Volunteer Opportunities

The Museum of East Anglian Life is looking for new volunteers to assist our visitor services team. As the public face of the Museum, Retail and Front-of-House Volunteers provide a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors. Alongside a member of staff, you will assist in welcoming visitors, selling admission tickets and shop stock, and answering enquiries.

Visitor Welcome Assistants, mainly based in Abbot’s Hall, provides a warm, friendly greeting to all visitors. The role also assists with orientation around our 75-acre site and generally giving visitors the information they need to ensure they have a comfortable, enjoyable and memorable visit.

We're Open – Please be aware that we have building work happening on site. Come and see the exciting changes happening at the Museum.

Our magnificent Medieval Barn is temporarily closed for repairs and will reopen in June 2026.

The House remains open while exterior works take place, before closing in 2027 for renovations — reopening with fresh exhibitions about food-making in the home.

The Factory is closed until March 2027 as we create brand new displays about industrial food production, accessible visitor toilets, and a stunning first-floor events space.
