Short-Term Volunteering

From time to time, we have short-term events and learning-based volunteering opportunities at the Food Museum. These opportunities are ideally suited to those that have a short time frame in which they would be able to support our work. These roles would suit anybody who can only commit to a few weeks or months with us, such as university students during holiday periods. Short-term volunteering is a great way to build up your skillset, meet new people and contribute to the work of the museum.

Many of our regular on-site volunteering roles are also available for those wishing to volunteer for a short time period.

We're Open – Please be aware that we have building work happening on site. Come and see the exciting changes happening at the Museum.

Our magnificent Medieval Barn is temporarily closed for repairs and will reopen in June 2026.

The House remains open while exterior works take place, before closing in 2027 for renovations — reopening with fresh exhibitions about food-making in the home.

The Factory is closed until March 2027 as we create brand new displays about industrial food production, accessible visitor toilets, and a stunning first-floor events space.
