Work Experience

The Food Museum regularly supports young people in completing work experience. Whether you want to build up your history skills, or want to get first-hand experience of being in a customer facing environment in our café and shop, we have an opportunity that you can get involved with!

If you are interested in undertaking work experience at the Food Museum, please complete our online registration form HERE.

Please note we are fully booked for Year 10 work experience for this year, we are not able to consider any further applications at this time.

Building works

Please be aware of building works taking place across our site.

Our magnificent Medieval Barn is currently closed for repairs and will reopen in June 2026.

The House will remain open whilst exterior works take place before closing during 2027 for renovations, reopening with fresh exhibitions about food-making in the home.

The Factory is closed from November 2025 through March 2027 as we create brand new displays about industrial food production, accessible visitor toilets, and a stunning first-floor events space.
