Seeking new Trustees

We are seeking to appoint a new Chair and up to four new Trustees

With 17 historic buildings set in 75 acres of countryside, the Museum of East Anglian Life is a leading regional visitor attraction. The museum is a charity and social and cultural enterprise, delivering an exciting 10-year masterplan to develop into the Museum of Food. Established in 1967, we care for over 40,000 objects, a walled garden, diverse landscapes and farm animals. We enjoy an excellent reputation for our pioneering work on volunteering, wellbeing and community involvement. We are proud to be a space where people can be active, learn new things, look at the world differently, make friends and give something back.

As Chair or Trustee, you will be joining an experienced and talented board which has a passion for the museum and its development. We are seeking up to five people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences who can help us deliver our vision and our commitment to inclusion. Experience in law, finance, business or the food or farming industry is particularly welcomed but all applications will be considered. Experience of museums is not necessary, but a commitment to be actively involved and contribute to the delivery of our aims with time, energy and skills are a must. Applicants should be able to contribute a minimum of 10 days per year. The role is voluntary and unremunerated, although reasonable travel expenses may be paid.

For more details about the roles, please see the attached document and the museum’s masterplan.

To make an application please complete these two forms:

The closing date for applications is 27 March 2020. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an informal interview with the trustees on 16 or 17 April 2020.

Appointments will be made subject to receipt of satisfactory references.
