About this objectAlso known as a 'bushel strike' ( Mr. Graham) ( name transposed from the strike which levels off the grain to the measure itself). Made of ? ash with iron bands and handles. The sides consist of one piece of wood bent into a circle. Three iron bands are riveted to the base below, one each at the top and bottom of the sides, with two vertical bands on the sides between the handles, which are themselves welded to two vertical bands with an intermediate band. Stamped on base below: 'IMPERIAL MEASURE' and ' CORCORAN/ 34 M....AN.' Stamped on side (outside) ' BUSHEL' and a crown with 'VR' under this and under that '484'. Stamped on the side: (inside): a crown under which is ' V Z R' and under this a quartered shield. Also a second crown under which is 'V R' and below this '484'.
