About this objectA mercury thermometer in a wooden case, used in the preparation of butter and cheese. It was dipped into the milk to determine its temperature. A length of string is attached to the top end.
It was used by the donor's grandmother, Mrs A Jackson, who died in 1973, aged 77. Mrs Jackson moved to Bramford from Pond Hall Farm, Bentley, in the 1920s, and this may have been used there as well as at Bramford.
