About this objectAlso known as a table churn, this square glass butter churn has a metal mechanism on the lid and a wooden paddle inside with four holes in it.
Purchased in 1914/16 this was used for domestic butter making. It was used by the donor's mother, between 1914 and 1927 at Pains Farm, Little Bentley, Nr. Colchester, Essex. It was not used after 1927 as the farm was given up at that time.
