Name/Title'Shorts' Fork
About this objectA 'shorts' fork, with a wooden shaft and five metal tines, used for the 'rakings' after the corn had been carted. This tool was used by Mr James Taylor, who formerly resided in the donor's house, during the early 20th century. Mr Taylor was an agricultural worker and probably had to supply his own tools. During the First World War, he worked for Colonial G. H. Long at a farm in Weston Colville. Mr Long was the father of Mr R Long, a farmer at Fornham St Martin. This fork was found by the donor when she moved into Mr Taylor's former residence.
