About this objectThis is one of four troughs, which are part of a collection of stable fittings, which came from the stables at the Cambridge Sewage Farm. The stables were built in 1897 and have since been converted into offices. The troughs were fitted to the back wall of the stalls. They are made of cast iron, and consists of troughs bolted to a surrounding rim. The front edge of the rim is curved under, in the centre of which is a hole. The back edge of the rim is turned up. The sides of the rims are still bolted to pieces of wood, which would probably have supported the troughs while they were in use. at the centre front of the trough itself is a tethering ring. Measurements: total length: 1.9m; outer width: 48cms; depth: 22cms; width of trough: 30cms.
