About this objectThis underskirt has a band at the waist, onto which a fuller skirt is attached. It is fastened with three sets of tying tapes. It is hand sewn and has a large darned patch on the front and two on the back.
This is part of the collection of clothes belonging to Misses D. and M. Burling, of Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire, who were aunts of the donor. The clothes were made by the Hancock family at The Laurels Swaffham Bulbeck in 1850 - 1900, who were members of a farming family.
