About this objectThis is part of the collection of clothes belonging to Misses D. and M. Burling, of Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire, who were aunts of the donor, Mrs Chapman. The clothes were by the Hancock family at The Laurels Swaffham Bulbeck in 1850/ 1900, who were members of a farming family. This is a headpiece, woven in silver thread, and pleated to form a circular shape, possibly to be worn around a 'bun' hairstyle. It is open at one end of the circular pleat, and fastened with a press stud.Opposite the opening is an ornate centre piece, again in silver thread in the shape of a flower, with baubles and beads hanging from it.
