About this objectThis is a blue underskirt with a plain front and tucks rather than gathers, giving shape at the back. The black waistband ties stitched onto the centre back panel. The left slit opening fastens with hooks and eyes, and the opening 'flap' continues down the full length of the skirt and into the deep hem.
This is part of the collection of clothes belonging to Misses D. and M. Burling, of Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire, who were aunts of the donor. The clothes were made by the Hancock family at The Laurels Swaffham Bulbeck in 1850 - 1900, who were members of a farming family.
