About this objectThis item is a gathered, black underskirt, fastened with hooks and eyes on a waist reinforced with petersham. The side seam is also closed with poppers and it has a hem.
This is part of the collection of clothes belonging to Misses D. and M. Burling, of Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire, who were aunts of the donor. The clothes were made by the Hancock family at The Laurels Swaffham Bulbeck in 1850 - 1900, who were members of a farming family.
