About this objectA pair of chains used when harnessing a horse to various farm implements. This is part of a collection of tools, used by the donor's grandfather and lived at Great Barton. They were used from the 1920s to the 1950s, when he died. He was a stockman, but also the village 'Jack of all trades'. Before the First World War, he was a stone dresser. He looked after the pumps for the village water tower. As bell ringer he also looked after the bells. Some of the tools are stamped with his initials.
