Bill Hooks are used to trim and lay hedges and have several distinctive characteristics, including a hook that pulls thin branches and vines towards the blade. The metal blades, often made of iron or steel, are sharpened like knives and swung like axes. Many regional varieties exist with a range of specifications that modify bills for different purposes.
