About this objectOne of eleven Horse Bits provided by the same donor. This bit has a straight bar with a groove on one side and no keys suspended from it. The bits were used by the donor's father, Robert William Ward (1901-1976), between 1914-1938 and 1948 and 1974. It was used at Butley until c.1928; Westerfield until 1947; Sutton (Nr. Woodbridge) until 1956 then Falkenham nr. Kirton. Mr. Ward was a horseman, a stallion leader. He used to break and show horses.
