About this objectPart of a set of dog hobbles (1-4 made of steel, cord and tape. 5&6 are made of steel. 7 is a deal box)
1-3 consists of a 'G' clamp. Each is stamped '52' on the arm, with a hole through which is threaded a thin rope. This is attached at the other end, by means of a metal slide, to a ring, to which is fastened a clip, bearing a loop of tape which was passed round the dog's leg.
This was used in the inter- war years, and was used for securing the dog to the table to give an anaesthetic for operating purposes, before the days of more easily administered anaesthetics.
