About this objectA cutting tool with a blade perpendicular to its handle. It was used to 'tow' wood down before planing.
This adze was used by the donor's father who trained as a bricklayer, a carpenter and a joiner. He also did a little wheelwrighting at his premises in Lavenham.
According to the donor, an adze such as this could be used to harvest kohlrabi, although this example was never used for this purpose.
