About this objectThis is handmade, made of white linen, with mother-of-pearl buttons and with hooks and eyes at the neck. It has a mandarin collar. The cuffs have drawn thread work and button fastenings. The blouse fastens down the back.
The two buttons on the cuffs are not original. The original mother of pearl buttons have a flower effect pattern. The back has five rows of pintucks each side of back fastenings. The collar, cuffs, and top half of bodice (v shaped pattern) embroidered with ordinary and open work flowers. Cuffs have two pintucks above and 1 pintuck below embroidery. Bodice has pleat each side of embroidery.
These items relate to a collection inherited by the donor from her grandfather’s family, who farmed in Old Buckenham, Walsham le Willows and Hepworth and bred horses and Red Poll cattle.
