About this objectWon by the donor's grandfather, Robert Baldwin, who farmed Edgar's Farm, Combs, from c. 1877 until his death in 1898. The farm at that time concentrated more on the production of poultry than of crops. The donor was unable to say which year the medal was won, but believes it was for dressed poultry for the Christmas market at Smithfield. Mr. Baldwin regularly sent poultry to the Smithfield market, as well as supplying several London firms who used to give their staff turkeys as 'Christmas boxes'.
