This badge was worn by the donor between 1947 and 1950. It was used at Stowupland for the first 6 months, then at East Bergholt. The donor had been working in a grocery shop for five years before joining the Land Army at the age of 19 in 1947. She was sent from her home town of Doncaster (Yorkshire) to Columbine Hall, Stowupland, where she trained for six months before being sent to a private farm at East Bergholt, where there was one other land girl. She did all kinds of farm work there, including hand milking of the three cows.
