Name/TitleTongs
About this objectThese iron tongs were probably used with the steam hammer. A 'collar' would be hammered over the ends of the handles to prevent them opening and the metal slipping. The tongs were held with the elbow bent away from the body, to prevent injury if the metal moved when being struck with the hammer.
