About this objectThe blade is bolted to the handle; the handle has a wedge-shaped tip to bolt into the raised groove on the blade. It was used for transferring grain from a bin to a baiting sieve, etc. at the donor's farm in Tostock. These scuppits, however, were also used to agitate the grain after threshing to remove the chaff (i.e. winnowing).
