About this objectMade c. 1880 or earlier of lignum vitae.
Used by donor's grandfather C. 19/20th century . The fleam was placed over the vein and given a sharp tap with the mallet. A tournequet was applied to control the bleeding. Used at Thetford, Norfolk.The head is mostly black, with two golden - horn patches.
