About this objectThis thistle hook was used to cut down thistles at ground level. It has a sharp front edge so that the thistle may be cut on the forward stroke as well as when the hook is put around the thistle from behind. The handle is broken off and the only remains of it are inside the socket, which lies at a 30 degree angle to the blade. The handle is secured in the socket by one nail.
