About this objectMade of ash with iron fittings. Used at Gipping Farm. Central hook adjustable on halce with a ring at each end. The ring at one end is secured by a removable pin. a second hole is provided for this pin 2.5 inches neared the centre of the tree. The pin would be used in the outer hold when pulled by a male in foal to prevent chafing of the stomach. This pummel tree was usually used at the spring- time with a plough for baulking, which is relatively light work.
