About this objectA reaping hook with an ash handle and iron blade used at a farm in Lawford, Essex. The handle is comparatively new while the iron blade, fullered on one side, is older and well used. The handles and blades are attached by a tang and ferrule, the tang appearing to be secured by a washer. The handle features a stop flange at the butt (the type often found on a modern billhook) and the blade has been stamped with an ‘( f )’ and ‘FUSSELL 2 MELLS’.
