About this objectA reaping hook with a steel blade and ash handle. The underside of the blade is fullered, and it is stamped with a trademark of a shield with '...SIT'. The size of the hook, '1', is also stamped on the blade. This tool was used by the donor's father who was a wheelwright, and later a builder, at Wayside, Stansfield. The donor's father had an acre of land, part of it cultivated, and this hook was used to keep down the area under the grass. He passed away in 1971 at the age of 72.
