Name/TitleFleam
About this objectThis fleam was used by Miss Tricker's father, who farmed in the 19th century at Dovedon Hall and after 1873 at Hengrave Grange Farm, both near Bury St. Edmunds. Miss Tricker was 86 at time of donation. Mr. Tricker used it for picking stones out of horses' hooves, but its real purpose is for bleeding cattle and other animals. The handle is brass, and it is an unusual type with six (steel) blades, three of which are typical fleam blades, two possibly abscess knives or scalping and one a hoof-pick.
