Name/Titleplough - ridging
About this objectA plough used for opening up furrows for planting potatoes. It is suggested that it was also used for lifting potatoes. The angle of the breasts is adjustable.
Mr W C Bell of Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies Ltd stated (17/04/1969): "This appears in our collection because we took over from Messrs. Ruston and Hornsby their range of tillage machinery. There is no old Hornsby catalogue available, and our 1930 catalogue does not show it, but there were various types such as the No.7, M.T., M.L.10, and M.L.16, all of which were ridging or potato raising ploughs."
