About this objectUsed by the father-in-law of the donor. During the war (1939-1945) was an Air Raid Warden, with special responsibility for livestock and had a number of veterinary appliances.
It was used to remove an obstruction in the throat. Made by Arnold & Sons of London, from coiled wire covered with leather; brass cups each with four lateral holes; cane stopper. Sometimes known as a choking rope. A flexible cane with a handle at one end moves easily too and fro within the tube. The leather is brown and the brass is yellow.
