About this objectThis instrument was used by Mr P. Turner, M.R.C.V.S., veterinary surgeon, at Ixworth, until at least 1925 when he retired at the age of 65, from his post as a Ministry of Agriculture Inspector.
This is of the open type and was used for administering 'balls' to horses. The upper arm is slightly upturned at the tip and the lower arm is slightly downturned at the tip. This instrument was also known as a Balling Iron or Farriers Gag.
