About this objectThis instrument was used to administer 'balls' of medicine to horses. It is of an open type and was used by Mr. P Turner, M.R.C.V.S, Veterinary Surgeon, at Ixworth, until at least 1925. He he retired at the age of 65 years, from his post as a Ministry of Agricultural Inspector.
It was used for administering 'balls' to horses. It is of the open type. with the upper arm turned up and lower arm turned down. This instrument was also known as a Balling Iron or Farriers Gag.
