Name/TitleBean or corn drill
About this objectThe barrel of this item has diagonal grooves, not round 'cups'. There is a plate with the vendor's details on it. There are detailed instructions on a sheet attached to the drill. It is called the 'DESPATCH CORN DRILL'. The advantages stressed are that it can be used by one man, that ploughing and drilling are carried out in one 'operation' and that it can work when the land is 'sticky'. Unfortunately the price has been cut off from the bottom of the sheet. The wood barrel is for sowing wheat and tares, the iron one for beans and peas. It was attached to a plough and was used by farm staff.
