About this objectA drenching horn was a veterinary instrument used for giving medicine to cattle; the horn was used for administering medicine to cattle and horses in liquid form. Two people were needed, one to steady the animal’s head, and the other to hold the medicine. The head was raised and the lip of the horn forced into the side of the mouth, but not so far as to produce a cough. The small end of the horn was lifted up and the contents poured down. The outlet is by the removal of the top. The plug at the wide end is fixed with brass pins and has a decoration of two concentric grooved circles
