Name/TitleTurnip hoe (Picker)
About this objectThe hoe was used for removing turnip 'shells' after the sheep had eaten them down to ground level. In this way the root, which contains an acrid juice detrimental to the stomach of the sheep, is left in the ground. The handle is missing on this example.
