About this objectThis was used by the donor's family, at Stowupland, possibly from the 18th century until just prior to donation. It was used for measuring corn.
Medium and MaterialsMade of oak secured with iron nails.
Inscription and MarksCarved on the base: 'E.A' (with 'D' added in ink)
Inside the base: Coat of arms surmounted G2R and a crown on side above.
On the side: Coat of arms surmounted with a crown, below which '17' and below that 'PINT'
The marks are impressed not burnt, as witnessed by the marks of the press on the other side of the wood.
