Name/TitleRoot chopper
About this objectIron head, the handle is probably ash and is not original. Sheep were often grazed on turnip fields to supplement their diet and enrich the ground with their manure. They graze the leaves and tops of the turnips, leaving partly buried turnips. This chopper was used to break down the turnip bits left whilst still on the ground. The end of the handle staff has broken off.
Medium and MaterialsThis has an iron head, with a handle of natural wood, possibly ash, which is obviously a renewal.
