Name/TitleBall Gun
About this objectA balling gun was an instrument that was used to administer medication to animals, in the form of capsules or boluses.
Balling guns can be used on many different animals, but were often used on cattle. There is often a need for giving animals medication, but the issue is being able to get the capsules behind the animals tongue. This is one of the reasons balling guns were invented, and are still used today. To use them the barrel of the gun is placed in the oesophagus, and the head of the gun lined up with the opening of the throat. The trigger is then pulled to administer the capsules or boluses. The correct use of the tool is vital to prevent the cause of injuries.
