Name/TitleBean drill
About this objectThis was fixed to the plough; the bean seeds fell into the open furrow and were usually covered over by a following plough, which would have either a single breast, or, if the land was badly infested with weeds, a double mouldboard so that the beans were then then drilled in every third furrow. The lid, a later replacement of the original, is secured to the hopper by two leather straps. A piece of leather has been attached to the outside of the base of the hopper.
