About this objectA 'Victoria' paraffin ploughing engine.
It was used by the donor and his father for ploughing, threshing and general farm work between 1920 - 1960 within a 10 mile radius of Great Ashfield. They were threshing contractors and this engine was part of their tackle. They owned 15/16 Walsh and Clark's in total. His father employed 52 men before and after the war. The engine was accepted into the museum to be restored and demonstrated.
An equivalent engine (serial number 5045LM, made in 1920) was sold at the Stapemill Abbey museum sale on 7th October 2006. It went for £38,500.
