Name/TitleWoolsack Lever
About this objectAn example of a ‘wool sack fastener’ or a ‘sack lever.’ It would be used to pull together the two edges of a full sack of wool and hold them together for stitching.
It has, at the top, an oval handle loop, then a round shaft, which becomes a square one, ending in a cross piece, in the same plan as the loop with four spikes. The cross piece has a solid wheel at each end. A hook straddles the shaft, where it changes from round to square, rotating about an axis.
