Name/TitleEmbrocation
About this objectThis was used by the donor and his father, at their West Bergholt farm during the 1930's and 1940's. It would be rubbed onto the horse where, for example, a muscle had been strained. The embrocation was contained in the corked, glass bottle, parts of the label of which remain. It is marked: "For horses and cattle". However, this was probably used solely for horses, since the father was a horse-breaker as well as a farmer. The bottle is contained in a brown cardboard box, the lid of which is marked "HARVEY'S EMBROCATION or CURB BOTTLE, PRICE 4/6". Cotton wool originally formed a padding at one end of the box - this has been discarded due to deterioration.
