About this objectPart of a caponising set for implanting a Boots preparation called Hexoestral in livestock to increase their rate of growth by the action of the female hormone. This item is the lid to the tin used to contain the caponising set, the tin was originally used to contain confectionery. The lid has a picture of a woman with 2 children and boats in a harbour.
The donor states the kit was used at Groton near Boxford c. 1950-1969 for fattening cockerels for Christmas.
