Name/TitleCasserole
About this objectThere are two side handles on the dish and one on the lid.
It was used almost entirely for cooking stews (rabbit, chicken etc.), for her husband and herself. Although she did have a family, it is not clear whether a meal for the whole family would be cooked in this casserole. The stew was usually dished up onto the plates in the kitchen to save time, but sometimes the casserole was brought to the dinner table. After circa 1971, it was used in the garden to hold water for the birds and finally kept in the shed.
