Richard Mabey and John Wright in Conversation

Join nature writer and broadcaster Richard Mabey, and author and naturalist John Wright in conversation at the Food Museum on Saturday 17 September. To coincide with our ongoing Hedgerow exhibition, Richard and John will be sharing their thought on hedgerows, as well as discussing some of their recent projects, and taking questions from the audience.

For five decades Richard Mabey has been a pioneering voice in modern nature writing, constantly exploring new ways of thinking about nature and its relation to our lives. From the rediscovery of foraging that led to his book “Food for Free”, through his ground-breaking expeditions in the “edgelands” in the 1970s, to his reflections on the musicality of birdsong, his books explore the relationship between nature and culture.

Richard is joined by naturalist and author John Wright whose books include “A Natural History of Hedgerows” and “A Foragers calendar”. John often appears in the River Cottage Series on Channel 4, and is the author of the River Cottage Handbooks Mushrooms, Edible Seashore, and Hedgerow and Booze.

£15 per person

Earlier in the day, join John for a foraging walk around the beautiful museum grounds. Learn more about foraging and identifying edible plants, fungi and the invertebrates that can be found in the hedgerows, woodlands and fields at the museum.
